Imagine a giant bear of a man delicately holding a walnut-sized heart in his hands, saving a life. This was the reality for Jo and Andrew, parents to tiny Madi, who was born with four holes in her heart. At just 9 weeks old, Madi underwent her first open-heart surgery and survived against all odds.  

But their nightmare wasn’t over.

Sixteen years later, Madi faced another life-threatening cardiac event. She endured an aortic aneurysm followed by 3 cardiac arrests and had to have yet another open-heart surgery to replace her aortic valve.
